Tallulah Falls School senior Oge Okoye recently achieved a milestone that no other TFS Lady Indian basketball player has ever achieved as she went over the 1,000 point mark for her illustrious career. Okoye, from Fayetteville, is in her fourth year at Tallulah Falls School. Okoye achieved the scoring milestone during a February 2 game at Woody Gap High School in Suches.
Over her four-year career at Tallulah Falls School, Okoye has set career records not only in points scored, but in rebounds, steals and blocked shots as well. According to her coach, Rick Hammock, her athletic accomplishments are only the beginning. Coach Hammock proudly boasted, "It is Oge's legacy of integrity, perseverance, and compassion that really sets her apart. Her kind spirit and humility are legendary, and coupled with an impeccable 4.0 GPA make her one of the most accomplished young people I have ever met."
Bobby Hammond, counselor at Tallulah Falls School, added, "Oge is one of the top two students at TFS. I would say that Oge’s athletic accomplishments are rivaled only by her accomplishments on the court. Oge has excelled academically while consistently taking the most advanced classes offered at TFS. She is currently enrolled in three college classes (English, Biology, and Math) and will finish her senior year with 20 semester hours of college credit. She is a member of the National Honor Society as well as other campus organizations."
The school's Director of Communications, Brian Boyd, added, "Oge sets a great example for everyone at our school and is deserving of every accolade that comes her way. She has great natural abilities but also an outstanding work ethic. It is not uncommon to see her studying in the stands before or after playing a game. But don't get the idea that everything is serious business with this young lady. She has an infectious smile and a wry sense of humor that keeps us all on our toes. She will be remembered for much more than her basketball accomplishments but this is just icing on the cake for her."
