Big Crowd Attends Admissions Reception Welcoming New Students
Posted On: Thursday July 29, 2010
It's not often that students and parents make their way to school in the middle of the summer, but over one hundred guests came to Tallulah Falls School on Tuesday evening, August 27, for a reception welcoming new local students. The event was held in the school's beautiful Lettie Pate Evans Student Center.
Kelly Woodall, Dean of Enrollment Management for the school, spoke of the events purpose: "The reception was our first opportunity to officially welcome our new local families into the Tallulah Falls School family." Woodall provided the latest in enrollment numbers and also provided instructions for the upcoming registration day. He was followed by Mark Rasmussen, the school's Vice President, Business Operations, who updated the group on the academic complex construction which is currently underway on campus. Rasmussen talked about the school's explosive growth over the past two years as well as the impressive college acceptances and $1.2 million in non-Hope scholarship offers that TFS graduates received in 2010. Rasmussen noted that the school will boast a record enrollment this year, which starkly contrasts with the declines that many private schools are seeing. According to Rasmussen, the school's academic complex expansion will ensure that TFS students will continue to enjoy excellent facilities and carefully managed class sizes.
For the students in attendance, the event provided a great opportunity for them to see more of the campus and meet a few of their classmates before the first official day of classes - Monday, August 9. Woodall concluded by noting, "We enjoy hosting events like this, especially since it allows students to begin developing new friendships before school even begins."
