Indians of the Week - March 14-19, 2016

Tallulah Falls School coaches have named their Indian “Athletes of the Week” for March 14-19.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL

Eighth grader Eva Wiggins of Atlanta set six personal records in two track & field meets this week, bettering previous marks in the 100 meter, 400 meter, shot put and discus.  Middle school track and field coach Scott Neal said, “Eva’s approach to training for success continues to be an example for her peers. Her tenacity and toughness enables her to burst through discomfort, learn new skills, and lead by example.”

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY

Pablo Mexsen of Mexico, an eighth grader, was chosen by middle school tennis coach Lisa Wilcox as a TFS Indian of the Week.  Coach Wilcox said, “This young athlete truly has the talent mentally and physically to persevere and overcome. He has lost only one tennis match this whole tennis season. His record this year is 7-1. His competition is extremely hard with but he seems to stay calm and push through.”

UPPER SCHOOL BOY

Track and field coach Scott Neal chose senior Ethen Besier of Tallulah Falls as an Indian of the Week. Coach Neal commented, “Though still nursing an injury from two weeks ago that curtailed all normal practice, drills, and conditioning, senior Captain Ethen Besier was able to throw a personal record 142’ 2” to earn a second place finish in the discus.  Earlier in the week at the inaugural TFS Field Event Frenzy, a field- events-only meet that he created in order to leave a legacy, Ethen threw a season best 132’ 2”.  Ethen now ranks first in Region 8A and fourth in Class A.”

UPPER SCHOOL GIRL

Sophomore Sophie Burke of Chesterton, Indiana earned Indian of the Week honors from Coach Randy Morris. Morris said, “Sophie has been our most consistent tennis player which was evident in her securing an important win versus Athens Academy. She is a true team player and one of the hardest workers on the team.”
