TFS middle school track and field teams win Tri-State Championship

The 35 TFS middle school track and field members ended a purposeful season by winning both Tri-State Conference Championship banners on April 26 at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School.

Girls events winners include: eighth grader Eva Wiggins (shot), eighth grader Khadijat Kokumo (discus), eighth grader Brianna Docsol (100m, 200m, long jump, both relays), eighth grader Reid Kafsky (triple jump, both relays), sixth grader Brinna Docsol (both hurdles, both relays).

Boys: eighth grader Matthew Weidner (shot, discus, 400m, both relays), seventh grader Grey Bourlet (triple jump, 300mh, both relays), eighth grader John Nichols (200m, both relays).

Weidner, Bourlet, Kokumo set significant and inspiring personal records or MS Legacy List performances. Seventh grader Collin Kelly superbly led the hurdle event crew, a tradition at TFS, according to Athletic Director Scott Neal.

“While I am excited for our kids to win the banner, I am more proud of the demonstration of genuine GREAT character at the meet and throughout the season,” Neal said. “The varsity team has created a culture of doing and being GREAT and those continual examples have carried over to the middle school athletes, who then seek to contribute to that pervading culture of gratitude, generosity, respect, responsibility, enthusiasm, excellence, ambition, accountability, thinking, and trustworthiness. The striving to win while developing positive relationships with teammates and competitors is satisfying to our kids and it shows up in their performances as well. I am so proud of who they are becoming and their impact!”
