Chaotic fun described the 35 teams of three meandering at all speeds across the numerous switchbacks on the Tallulah Falls School Farm course in what started out as stifling heat but turned into just hot.

The themed-meet was the first of the season for the TFS varsity cross country team, with Athens Academy, Providence Christian Academy, and Rabun County High School on campus for the event.

“The Relay Carnival experience is less about team competition as it is to adjust to early season heat in an enjoyable format with a break between mile runs,” said Tallulah Falls School Athletic Director Scott Neal. “Coaches take mile splits for their athletes and each of the schools had a trio in the top three. Plenty of fans on hand enjoyed concessions, good views of the harriers, and the type of camaraderie associated with cross country.”

Anne Edwards was the Team Leader for the meet and provided carnival games (corn hole, ring toss, horse shoes) for the visiting schools to enjoy together after the meet.  She also coordinated prizes (stuffed animals and candy) for the top three boys and girls relay teams.

Sophomore Caleb Griffis of Martin, senior Michael Weidner of Clarkesville, and sophomore Aaron Hughes were the top TFS boys trio (36:11) while freshman Sophie Alexander of Sautee-Nacoochee, junior Sophie Burke of Chesterton, Indiana and junior Perry Gresham of Clarkesville (41:26) led the TFS girls.
