TFS cross country team competes at Athens relay meet

Tallulah Falls School varsity and JV cross country team members traveled to Athens August 25 to compete in the Spartan Ekiden relay meet hosted by Athens Academy.

“The Spartan Ekiden is an annual relay format of coed quartets running 3k each on a grassy, single-loop, undulating path amidst a sweltering ozone covering hundreds of bipods scampering and emitting electrolytes like a sieve,” said TFS Athletic Director Scott Neal.

The top Indian foursome of junior Perry Gresham of Clarkesville (14:30), freshman Sophie Alexander of Sautee-Nacoochee (15:10), sophomore Caleb Griffis of Martin (11:25), and sophomore Aaron Hughes of Demorest (11:17) placed 13th overall.  The other varsity relay tetra was junior Reece Bates of Clarkesville (17:19), junior Sophie Burke of Chesterton, Indiana (17:13), freshman Chris Geiger of Sautee-Nacoochee (11:46), and senior Michael Weidner of Clarkesville (11:25).

Top TFS JV runners for the 3k non-relay race were freshman Caden Griffis of Martin (12:46), freshman John Nichols of Clarkesville (12:57), freshman Will Jackson of Clarkesville (13:45), and freshman Laurel Smith of Clayton (16:16).

The team competes on August 27 at the North GA Championships at Lamar Murphy Park in Jefferson.
