The Habersham Chamber of Commerce recently selected members for the 2016-17 Junior Board of Directors from Tallulah Falls School and Habersham Central High School.

Members must be a high school junior or senior with a high grade point average, proven leadership abilities and a desire to learn more about Habersham County and local businesses.

The following students were selected to participate for the current academic year: TFS students, Reece Bates, Reagan Bates, Grace Brewer, Eli Clouatre, Perry Gresham, Olivia Little, Kayley Pugh,Cody Reynolds and HCHS students, Emily Jo Ariail, Bailee Blackwood, Abbie Butler, Hope Cooper and Brooke Loggins.

As Junior Chamber Board members, students will learn various leadership styles from local entrepreneurs and business executives to help them develop their own leadership style in high school and college. They also will hear from several community and civic business leaders regarding the importance of understanding Chamber issues and functions, as well as the history of Habersham County.

The Junior Board began their first meeting of the year at Bear Gap Log and Timber Homes in Clarkesville where owner Chrissy Laws introduced students to her business and how she became an entrepreneur and business owner in Habersham County.

“Giving high school students an opportunity to see local businesses and meet the owners up close and personal will hopefully create a greater understanding and appreciation of what Habersham has to offer,” said Amy Hulsey, Habersham Chamber Board of Directors member and steering organizer of the Junior Chamber Board. “We are thankful for the many businesses that volunteer their time to showcase their companies and host the Junior Board each year. Their advice to students is always interesting and invaluable to the students.”

TFS President and Head of School Larry A. Peevy is the incoming president for the Habersham  Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
