TFS bass fishing club finishes sixth of 116 teams at Alabama tourney

The Tallulah Falls School Bass Fishing Club traveled to Alabama Feb. 10-11 to fish in a tournament at Lake Eufaula [Walter F. George Reservoir]. Freshman Marshall Williams of Homer and sophomore Marshall Harrelson of Clarksville, competed against 230 other anglers representing a total of 116 teams from across the state of Georgia. This was the third time the club members fished this lake against other competitors over the last 18 months.

“During previous tournaments, fishing this lake proved to be a humbling experience with very little for the teammates to show for their efforts at the scales,” team captain Russell Williams said. “However, perseverance and determination paid off in a big way for the angling duo this time out on the water. The team fished hard all day catching about 20 largemouth bass.”

They amassed a total sack weight of 14.62 pounds, Williams added.

“That proved to be a heavy enough bag to place sixth out of the 116 teams. That weight was just 1.91 pounds out of first,” he said.

The creel they brought to the scales is the second time the fishermen collected enough weight in a Georgia B.A.S.S. Nation High School qualifier tournament this season to qualify them for the State Championship this summer on Lake Chatuge.

“We are proud of the progress of this duo,” President and Head of School Larry A. Peevy said. “Join me in congratulating the anglers on an impressive performance.”

The TFS Bass Fishing Club invites anyone interested in learning how to become a part of the Georgia B.A.S.S. Nation High School Division to contact Williams at russell@rgwconst.com for more information.  With three tournaments left in the regular season, there is still plenty of time to get started for this year and next season, Williams said.
