TFS coaches name Indians of the Week

Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected their Indian athletes of the week for September 17-22.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL

Eighth-grader Ellesen Eubank of Clarkesville was selected as an Indian of the Week by tennis coach Lisa Wilcox. “Ellesen has earned the No. 1 singles position and is playing consistently,” said Wilcox. “Her recent match against Banks County was a lengthy one with many long points, but she was able to come away with the win, 8-5. She never quit and fought hard with a smile on her face every step of the way.”

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY

Eighth-grader Hanyuan (Jack) Zhong of China was named an Indian of the Week by soccer coach Travis Mullis. “Jack is quick to learn and to implement new skills for the benefit of the team,” said Mullis. “Even when injured he gives his best effort at the left back position. In a recent match when battling for possession Jack’s opponent fell to the ground. Jack immediately reached out a hand to help him up. Parents of the opposing team applauded his deed and commented about the incident after the match. As coaches, this is exactly the type of sportsmanship we are looking for.”

VARSITY GIRL

Junior Kate Blackburn of Demorest was named an Indian of the Week by volleyball coach Matt Heyl. “Kate has been on fire lately,” said Heyl. “She has been setting as if she has some kind of inner magical ability to put her sets exactly where her hitters need them.”

VARSITY BOY

Junior Mohamed Kanu of Decatur was selected as an Indian of the Week by soccer coach Brett Adams. “Even while dealing with several nagging injuries, Mohamed proves a consistent and dependable defensive stalwart,” said Adams. “His sense of personal responsibility to chase, recover and deny opponents is both impressive and growing with each match. His passion to contribute to contribute to our squad really helps to develop our team culture.”
