Varsity boys’ soccer recap

In a series of matches to close out the season, the Tallulah Falls School varsity boys’ soccer team wins one match, loses two and ties one.

On Oct. 4, the Indians bested Franklin at a home match with a score of 4-1.

According to coach Brett Adams, the team scored 12 shots on the goal.

Sophomore Sammy Davis, Jr. of the Bahamas had three goals,  sophomore Henrik Wiberg, also from the Bahamas, had one goal and two assists, junior Maik Murenzi of Rwanda had one assist, junior Mohamed Kanu of Decatur had two assists and sophomore Cainan Yaskiewicz of Highlands had 11 saves.

“So many of our players had stand-out performances today,” Adams said. “Justin Yu [sophomore from South Korea] played so well in the middle along with Luke Johnson [junior from Clarkesville. Alfie Barnor [senior from Kennesaw] anchored our defensive presence throughout the match. Joe Griswold [sophomore from Demorest] came in off the bench and played intelligent and disciplined defense. Cainan had a confident and aggressive showing.  Mohamed had a courageous match through pain. Our season-journey from individualistic play to team dependency is exciting to watch.”

Adam said the coaches made significant tactical adjustments earlier in the season that translated directly into scoreline results and enhanced team chemistry.

“We were bested in our first meeting with Franklin, 1-5,” Adam said. “The proof of our growth is evident in today's 4-1 match win against Franklin. I am proud of this team.”
