TFS Lady Indians win in dramatic fashion over King’s Ridge
The Tallulah Falls School Lady Indians won in a last second buzzer-beater versus King's Ridge Christian on Nov. 10.
“We had three players with almost 10 rebounds each, controlling the boards with 70% of all rebounds going to the Indians on the defensive end of the court,” said head coach Brandy Corbett.
Both senior Nyah Williams of Cornelia and sophomore Katy Corbett of Lakemont had double-doubles for the day, Corbett said.
“The Lady Indians fought back after being six points down with approximately four minutes left in the game to win 44-43,” she said.
Junior Lillie Free of Clarkesville had five points, three assists, three deflections, and four steals. She did a great job maintaining her composure in the fourth quarter and had some key assists at crucial points in the game.
Junior Santy Dembele of Tampa, Florida had another good day in the paint, pulling down nine rebounds, scoring four points, and having a strong defensive presence in the lane.
Sophomore Katy Corbett of Lakemont hit four three-pointers, totaling 12 points, and pulled in 10 rebounds.
Senior Nyah Williams of Cornelia scored 23 points, for the second game in a row, and had 10 rebounds. While starting out slow, her most impressive stat of the game was being able to overcome her mental frustration and having a solid performance before the game's end. The mark of a true player is one who can overcome an adverse beginning of the game and mentally fight through to finish strong.
The Lady Indians are now 3-0 and have a long break before the next game against the Eagles of East Jackson on Nov. 27 at home.
