TFS coaches name Indians of the Month for November

Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected their Indian athletes of the month for November.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL

Seventh-grader Molly Mitchell of Cornelia was named an Indian of the Month by middle school girls basketball coach Sharae Long. “Molly overcame a minor injury and pushed through to continue to be a leader on the court,” Long said. “She is a multi-sport athlete who is also competing on our fishing team. She manages her time well, putting in extra work in both sports while excelling in the classroom.”

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY

Eighth-grader Nelson Wilkinson of Cleveland was selected as an Indian of the Month by middle school basketball coach Logan James. “Nelson had a wonderful month of November,” James said. “During the month he shot 50% from the field and an amazing 100% from the foul line. He averages five points per game and two rebounds per game. Nelson is not only a member of both the basketball and swim teams, but he is a strong contributor and leader within each program.”

VARSITY BOY

Junior Hunter Weyrich of Alto was selected as an Indian of the Week by swim coach Annette Cochran. “Hunter has consistently been a top performer this year,” Cochran said. “This past weekend Hunter placed first overall in the 200 IM and second overall in the 50-yard freestyle event. Hunter has worked hard this season and has managed to qualify for state in the individual events. This past week he helped the team qualify in the 200-yard freestyle relay which means that the boy’s swim team has now qualified in all three relay events due in no small measure to Hunter’s performance.”

VARSITY GIRL

Junior Santy Dembele from Tampa, Florida was named an Indian of the Month by varsity girls basketball coach Brandy Corbett. “Santy has been a completely different player this season, helping the Lady Indians to a 5-1 record,” Corbett said. “In last week’s game against East Jackson Santy hit two free throws to tie the game with 15 seconds left, which sparked the team to a thrilling two-point win. Santy had eight points and 10 rebounds for the night. Against Christian Heritage, she had 11 points and 15 rebounds. In her quest to finish the week strong, she also scored a personal record of 16 points and added seven rebounds in our next contest. She gives relentless defensive effort, hustles during transition and brings excitement and passion to each game.”
