TFS coaches name Indians of the Week

Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected their Indian athletes of the week for March 11-16

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL

Sixth-grader Madeline Martin of Cornelia was selected as an Indian of the Week by middle school golf coach Matt Heyl. “Madeline has proven this past week that she has the work ethic to become a valuable asset to the golf team,” Heyl said. “Over the winter break, it was obvious that she worked on her game. Not only did she work hard, but she also invested in her game by getting a lesson. She came back with a changed swing which took a great deal of concentration and work on her part. Madeline also qualified to be on the laying team and competed in her first match this past Thursday.”

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY

Seventh-grader Ethan Simmons of Demorest was named an Indian of the Week by middle school track & field coach Scott Neal. “Ethan seeks daily to be engaged in skill development in order to better himself as an athlete and teammate,” Neal said. “He focuses on how he can improve, receives correction and encouragement equally well and consistently displays the tenets of GREAT character during his pursuit of becoming a better sprinter and jumper. Ethan carves away the many distractions often linked with his age. Instead, he genuinely strives to excel while overcoming any myriad of adversities along the way.”

VARSITY BOY

Sophomore Grey Bourlet of Tallulah Falls was selected as an Indian of the Week by varsity track & field coach Scott Neal. “In two meets this week, Grey won both hurdle races and ran the fastest leg with personal records on the 4x4 relays,” Neal said. “He also placed second with a personal record of 12’ - 6” at the Hebron Invitational. Grey is presently ranked second (tied) in the pole vault and fourth in both hurdle races in Class A-Private. A versatile and competitive thin-clad, Grey lifts the team with enthusiasm, effort and excellence.”

VARSITY GIRL

Freshman Maddi Perdue of Clayton was named an Indian of the Week by precision rifle coach Tim Stamey. “Maddi set her equipment up on the firing line excited and yet feeling confident,” Stamey said. “This confidence led her to shoot the TFS high score of 553 out of a possible 600. She has diligently worked on her position and triggering and it showed. She has made amazing progress.”
