TFS middle school boys’ soccer kicks off season with win over Highlands

The Tallulah Falls School middle school boys’ soccer team kicked off their season with a win on Aug. 29, defeating Highlands School 8-1 at home. 

“I was most impressed by the humility that our team showed,” coach Travis Mullis said. “Some of these guys have played together for two years. Two years ago, we had 16 kids on a team and it was co-ed. They just love playing together.”

TFS jumped out to a 5-0 lead at the half, and never looked back. The Indians were able to control the ball and stay on the attack for the majority of the first half.

TFS was led to victory by their captains, eighth-grader Austin Ball of Tiger and eighth-grader Jake Wehrstein of Demorest. Seventh-grader KC Repress of Cornelia scored a hat trick for the Indians.

“The captains, Ball and Wehrstein, played on that co-ed group of 16 and remember getting mercy-ruled,” coach Mullis said. “They came out here with humility, and they played with class. They’re excellent ballplayers. They score goals and they defend well, and they challenge their teammates to do the same.”
