TFS conducts successful lockdown drillĀ

Maintaining campus safety requires drills and consistent communication with all stakeholders.

On Oct. 28, a lockdown drill provided a chance to practice and refine security procedures.
Personnel from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office and the town of Tallulah Falls provided back-up assistance.

“The drill went well,” said Director of Security Dustin Rogers. “Communication went out to parents in a timely manner and faculty, staff and students did an excellent job moving to assigned safe spaces. This is a great chance to deepen our relationships with area law enforcement.”

Tallulah Falls Police Chief Tonya Elrod assisted school officials in checking for locked doors and compliance with drill requirements.

According to President and Head of School Larry Peevy, involving area public safety adds an important layer to the school’s overall safety plan.

“It is vital for our area law enforcement personnel to be familiar with our campus,” Peevy said. “Reviewing every detail is important when it comes to the safety of our students and school employees. We appreciate the partnership we have with the town of Tallulah Falls and other agencies.”

“The school has 24/7 security coverage and these drills are part of the master security plan,” Peevy added.
