Lady Indians victorious over Lake Oconee Academy

 
 

After a lengthy holiday break, the Lady Indians (8-3) returned to action on Jan. 4 in a close contest against the Lady Titans (10-4) from Lake Oconee Academy. 

The Lady Indians secured their fifth straight win, in the thrilling 65-60 victory, according to Head Coach Brandy Corbett. 

Leaders for the Lady Indians were as follows:

  • Junior Katy Corbett of Lakemont scored 18 points. Corbett connected on four three-pointers, had seven rebounds, seven assists, two steals and three blocked shots. 
  • Senior Lillie Free of Clarkesville had 14 points and was just shy of a double-double, as she pulled down nine rebounds for the game. Free also had three steals and hit two key free throws in the last few minutes of the contest.
  • Freshman Denika Lightbourne of the Bahamas chipped in 12 points, grabbed six rebounds, and had three steals.
  • Freshman Veronaye Charlton of the Bahamas scored 10 points, nabbed four steals, and added five assists.
  • Sophomore Macy Murdock of Carnesville had her best game of the season. She scored four points and secured two rebounds, two deflections, and a steal.
  • Junior Abby Carlan of Baldwin contributed four points and four rebounds.

On Jan. 7 Lady Indians will travel to Gainesville to face the Lady Lions of Lakeview Academy. On Jan. 10, the team will head to Monroe to play the Lady Bulldogs of George Walton Academy. Both games will tip-off at 6 p.m.
