TFS coaches name Indians of the Week

Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected Indian Athletes of the Week for January 6-11.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL

Eighth-grader Allie Phasavang of Clarkesville was named an Indian of the Week by middle school girls basketball coach Sharea Long.

“Allie works diligently on improving her game,” Long said. “She plays out of position and continues to thrive. Her hard work continues to pay off. “Allie not only plays hard and encourages her teammates, but she also makes practices and games fun. Her attitude is positive and her personality is contagious.”

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY

Seventh-grader Tanner Davis of Cornelia was selected as an Indian of the Week by middle school boys basketball coach Tom Tilley.

“Tanner had a huge game defensively versus region rival Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School,” Tilley said. “He accumulated 12 steals with four deflections and added eight points. There is no doubt in my mind we would have lost had it not been for Tanner’s amazing defensive performance in the 29-15 win. This gives us a 5-1 record on the season.”

VARSITY GIRL

Junior Allie Kate Campbell of Cleveland was named an Indian of the Week by varsity cheer coach Amanda Rogers.

“Allie Kate is always smiling, which is essential for cheerleading,” Rogers said. “She does anything asked of her. This week she was placed in an unfamiliar situation when practicing stunts but did not hesitate to try something new. It may not have gone as planned but she was open to critique.”

VARSITY BOYS

Sophomore Tyler Popham of Demorest was named an Indian of the Week by junior varsity basketball head coach Lowell Hamilton.

“Tyler has emerged as a leader on the court and off,” Hamilton said. “He has made himself a player who adds value to the game of basketball with his competitive spirit and great effort no matter if it is a practice or a game. Tyler also takes the initiative in communicating with teammates to make sure that everyone is aware when there are schedule changes with practices or games. Tyler is the team player every coach wants on the team to serve as an example to others.”
