TFS coaches name Indians of the Month

Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected their Indian athletes of the month for January.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL

Seventh-grader Haygen James of Demorest was named an Indian of the Month by middle school basketball coach Sharea Long. “Haygen has been an offensive and defensive force late in the season,” Long said. “She scored 20 points versus Highlands in the semi-finals of the Tri-State tournament to carry the team to victory. In the championship game, Haygen had nine points, multiple rebounds and defended the best offensive player on the opposing team while holding her to four points. Her heart and passion were most evident at a time in the season when her team needed her the most.”

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY

Seventh-grader KC Respress of Cleveland was selected as an Indian of the Month by middle school boys basketball coach Tom Tilley. “KC is a gifted athlete who leads by example and works hard every day,” Tilley said. “During January, he led the team in assists, steals, deflections and minutes played. KC was as valuable as any player on our roster this season.”

VARSITY GIRL

Sophomore Ava Wehrstein of Demorest was named an Indian of the Month by varsity cheering coach Amanda Rogers. “Ava was a calm leader this month while practicing and executing stunts,” Nichols said. “She took leadership of the stunt groups as the counter and provided thoughtful feedback to the coach that allowed for improvement.”

VARSITY BOY

Senior John Nichols of Clarkesville was named an Indian of the Month for January by varsity swim coach Rachel Nichols. “John always arrives prepared to give his best efforts in practice without complaint,” Nichols said. “His hard work and determination paid off at our competition at UGA last week when he broke the school’s 100-fly record with a personal record time of 54.08. He also swam to a personal record in the 50 free, breaking the 22-second barrier. These accomplishments reflect John’s dedication to the sport and to his team.”
