Middle school volleyball nets thrilling win over Banks at home

The middle school volleyball teams had an outstanding night on Friday at home against Banks County. The A-Team won in three sets while the B-Team split.

"Tonight's home matches were outstanding," said coach Whittney LaHayne. "We had all-out, full participation, and hustle from all of our team members."

The A-team dropped a close one, 25-22, in the opening set to Banks County before storming back to win the next two.

"We were a little jumbled on the floor and weren't talking really well," says LaHayne. "Several of our serves were weak in this first set too. We had a few spots left uncovered where Banks was able to slip in some points."

The Lady Indians stormed back in the next two sets to earn a big win. After taking a quick 7-1 lead, TFS forced Banks to call a timeout. A 23-16 lead looked safe, but Banks rallied for four straight before TFS earned a 25-22 win. Caroline Smith played well at the net, while Chesney Tanksley and Mia Hamon hustled to get every second ball for good sets.

"The rest of the girls did an excellent job in defense," adds LaHayne. "We have been working on our covering and transitioning, and tonight that paid off."

"By the end of the second match, beginning of the third, we were in Banks County's head," says LaHayne. TFS won the third set 15-5 to claim the match win.

The B-Team won their first set, 25-21 before dropping the second set, 24-26 to tie the match.

"Everyone saw playing time tonight and everyone did a great job," adds LaHayne. "It was overall a good match and it felt so good to end the night at home with a win in an area match."

The A-Team is now 6-5 on the season, and the B-Team is 3-5-3. They return to action on Monday at home against Jefferson.
