MS volleyball closes regular season with Tuesday split

The TFS middle school volleyball team, playing for a second straight evening, earned a Tuesday split. The girls grabbed a win over Rabun Gap after dropping a closely-contested match to Asheville Christian Academy.

"It was a loss, but the girls fought for the very last point in the second set," says coach Whittney LaHayne.

The first set saw TFS fall 13-25, but they rebounded with a tough 25-27 loss in the second set.

Against Rabun Gap, the girls earned a win in straight sets (25-20, 25-21).

"We played hard and had a great win against Rabun Gap," adds LaHayne. "The girls hustled on the floor, got their serves in, and were talking and calling the ball. We had a few slip-ups but it was an overall great win. It was such an awesome way to end our last match at home. Julia Smith had some fire serves tonight. Karagan Branson had some great digs that saved us on several points. Rebecca Heyl saved us a couple of points covering tips. That last win felt great. Now to get the girls ready for Saturday."

Saturday marks the End of Season Tournament for the middle school team, and will be hosted by Banks County. TFS enters as the fourth seed after the A-Team went 7-7 overall and 3-3 in area competition this year.
