Indians of the Month - September 2020

Tallulah Falls School has named its Indians of the Month winners for September 2020. The winners are Lucy Alexander and Charlie Cody for the high school, and Josie Chesser and Zach Carringer for the middle school.

Lucy Alexander

Cross Country - High School Girl

Junior Captain Lucy Alexander is currently ranked 11th in Region 8-A and 66th of 450 in Class A-Private with her 5k time of 22:34.70. She has been running cross country since sixth grade, leads the girl's team with enthusiasm and discipline, and is a Team Leader for the upcoming Harrier Harvest. Lucy represents TFS, cross country, and our team with GREATness!

Charlie Cody

Cross Country - High School Boy

Junior first-year harrier Charlie Cody has quickly moved up to the team's #3 runner, despite having no summer distance running foundation. His 19:36.0 time for the 5k is currently ranked 17th in the region and 123rd of 650 in Class A-Private. He now ranks 26th on the TFS XC Legacy List of all-time runners. Charlie brings humor to the team, often lightening the stresses of running with a quip meant to keep things in perspective. He has accepted every challenge while progressing adeptly; he is ranked 1,486th out of 32,470 runners listed in the www.milesplit.com database quite a feat for someone completely new to distance running.

Josie Chesser

Cross Country - Middle School Girl

Eighth grade cross country harrier Josie Chesser has continually placed in the top 10% of races, placing in the top five three times.  Her 3k time of 13:44.84 is currently ranked 102nd of over 1000 runners in the state, 18th  in Class A-Private, and 12th in Region 8-A. Whether over continuous distance, hills, or fitcore intervals, Josie works to get better, pushing through the inherent discomforts in the sport, all the while with a positive attitude. She is a good teammate as she balances true competitiveness with the joy of simply running amongst friends and foes.

Zach Carringer

Tennis - Middle School Boy

Zach Carringer played #1 doubles for most of the season. His record is 7 wins and no losses. His eagerness to learn and implement all that he can take in is phenomenal. His attitude is serious and expects others to try as hard as he does. He is never unkind to his peers or his teachers, or his coach. It shows in his game of tennis, especially his serve.  He is consistent  with every stroke and his way of life. I respect this young man in so many ways. This is Zach's first year playing tennis and he is an 8th grader. I sure wish we could have spent more of his middle school time together. I know he will someday be successful in whatever he sets out to do. Good luck and congratulations to you Zach.
