Lady Indians fall to Athens Academy in region championship

CHAZ MULLIS - The Trojans bested the Lady Indians in the Region 8A Championships on Tuesday night, 45-35. The varsity girls played well against an aggressive Athens Academy defense who kept them at bay. 

TFS kept right on the heels of Athens Academy throughout the first half, capping at 19-23. The Lady Spartans ballooned this lead by the ending buzzer. Denika Lightbourne provided crucial 3-pointers and layups throughout both halves that sustained the close-scored game.

Lightbourne took the lead with 20 total points during the game, while Iray Adeleke took in four points. Veronaye Charlton had three points, while Katy Corbett and Abby Carlan had two each.
