Indians of the Week for week ending February 27

The Indians of the Week are chosen by coaches, and recognize student-athletes that play sports that are currently in season. This week's Indians of the Week (for the week of February 22-27) include Barrett Whitener and Sammy Davis for high school, and none for middle school this week (winter break). PAST INDIANS OF THE WEEK

Barrett Whitener - Basketball

High School Girl

The Lady Indian Basketball Program would like to honor Barrett Whitener as the Indian of the Week. Based on the fact that we had an injured starter, our team needed to make several adjustments in preparation for our first round of the state tournament. This meant that we only had three practices to make personnel changes in almost every phase of our game.

During all of our practices leading up to the game, it was clear that Barrett was ready to take on the challenge. Her attention to detail that week was outstanding, and she carried out our game plan exceptionally well. As one of two seniors on the roster next year, the Lady Indians will be looking to lean on Barrett's leadership and the continued development of her skills for a successful 2021-2022 season.

Sammy Davis - Basketball

High School Boy

Sammy Davis played a great overall game in the 1st round of state vs. Galloway. He led the Indians with 15 pts and also contributed 4 rebounds, 1 steal, and 3 assists. Additionally, Sammy played excellent defense during the 1st round contest. He is certainly a player who has exceeded expectations this season with improvements in every area of his basketball play and doing it with great consistency!
