Indians of the Week for week ending April 24

The Indians of the Week are chosen by coaches, and recognize student-athletes that play sports that are currently in season. This week's Indians of the Week (for the week of April 19-24) include Sam Stamey and Andrew Erwin for high school and Bailey Crumley and Jason Bard for middle school. PAST INDIANS OF THE WEEK

Sam Stamey - Precision Rifle

High School Girl

Sam Stamey has been the anchor and Captain of the TFS Rifle team for 4 years. Sam came in first for 60 shots Standing in the final match of 20-21. She shot a 554 Standing offhand in what was probably her final rifle competition. Watching her get excited and heap praise on Andrew Erwin for beating her 3 Position School Record as she completed her last year on the Rifle Team is what a coach strives for. Caring for your fellow teammates over yourself or your accomplishments is the GREATness that we strive for.

Andrew Erwin - Precision Rifle

High School Boy

Andrew Erwin has been working extremely hard over the last couple of months to overcome a slump/plateau in his training. He managed to shoot to the top Friday at the last match of 20-21. Andrew came in first for 3 position X 20 with a 97 and 100 in Prone, 94 and 92 in Standing, and 96 and 98 in Kneeling. This was a School Record 577 beating the old record of 576 set by Team Captain Sam Stamey in 2019! His dedication to the Rifle Team and to his Academics, along with his character is what makes him GREAT.

Bailey Crumley - Soccer

Middle School Girl

7th grader Bailey Crumley has been a consistent contributor to the middle school girls soccer team this season. Her quick wit and contagious smile, combined with some amazing soccer skills and speed has made Bailey our IOW. Bailey is the first one to raise a hand to help out with anything- on or off the field. She loves to be on the field and gives it 110% every time! Bailey‘s stamina and drive has helped the team advance for goal scoring chances many times this season. She’s incredibly coachable and a great teammate. I can’t wait to see what Bailey can do next year!

Jason Bard - Track & Field

Middle School Boy

Jason Bard, also a soccer player on the successful middle school team, won the shot put, discus, and was on the winning 4x1 relay team. He placed second in the 1600m as well as on the 4x4 relay team. Jason is persistent, service oriented, competitive, and communicative. He consistently seeks to improve, to place himself in situations to grow, and to defy odds. The team is important to him; he is willing to take on any event to score points, and he is a strong encourager of others.
