Caroline Ball - Cross Country

HS Girl

Senior harrier Caroline Ball has a distinct balance between a passion for performance and for people, a unique blend of personal pursuit by passing people, and a delight to compete WITH peers, a combination of a transactional journey to accomplish with a transformational desire to be changed and to change the world. Presently, she is the TFS girl's #1 runner and led the team to victory at the Kent Kramer XC Classic with a 5k time of 24:02.36 in 13th place out of 128 runners. Caroline is a Team Leader who leads with her head, her heart, and her hands; she has earned the trust and respect of her peers. -coach Scott Neal

Zhigao Henrry Xiong - Cross Country

HS Boy

Zhigao Henrry Xiong placed 23rd of 175 harriers at the Kent Kramer Classic and finished as the TFS #2 runner on the day. His 5k time of 19:25.46 was 2:19 faster than last year on the same deceptively slow course and only about 30 seconds slower than his personal record. Henrry is an integral cog in this year's team that plans to earn a trip to the state championship for the third year in a row.  He is dedicated, as shown by his more than 40 mile per week average, his devotion to the spirit of the team, and his delight in sharing the nuances he learns along the way. Henrry has been described by his teammates as one of few peers worthy of a one named moniker - Henrry. When his name is mentioned, so many memories and fanciful emotions come to mind, which is why his team knows they will always remember him vividly. -coach Scott Neal

Lizita Miller - Cross Country

MS Girl

Seventh grader Lizita Miller had quite a memorable week! On Tuesday, she placed second at the Tri State Championship race at TFS, eclipsing her course best in the process. On Thursday, she won the Kent Kramer Classic at Athens Christian, defeating teammate Olivia Henderson by less than a second after pacing strategically from behind throughout the race and until passing the lead runner in the final stretch to propel the team to the victor's trophy. Two days later at the Georgia Middle School State Championship race in Cochran, Lizita again paced herself strategically, running negative splits of 7:34/7:30 while passing gadzooks of harriers in the second half, to place 22nd out of 191 in the small school championship division. Her two mile time ranked her 130th of 964 running throughout the day. Zita is an effervescent, competitive, and comical teammate who livens up bus rides, inspires her peers to run faster, and pushes herself when challenged. -coach Scott Neal

Harry Goldfine - Tennis

MS Boy

The Indian of the Week for middle school tennis is 8th grader Harry Goldfine. Harry steadily improved over the course of the season in both his skill and approach to the game. He found himself all season in the right spot in the lineup, with only the top seven competing in matches. In the last match of the season, the semifinals, Harry’s opportunity arrived to contribute, and he took full advantage. Playing the #3 singles position due to an illness of another player in the lineup, Harry came up huge to win 8-5. “I am proud of how Harry progressed through the season. He was clearly mentally prepared for the opportunity he got. I am so happy for him to have that experience of success to close out the season,” said Coach Anthony Cox. -coach Anthony Cox
