TFS 2020-21 yearbook achieves high marks
The staff of the 2020-21 Tallulah Falls School yearbook can now say they played a role in creating an award-winning publication after hearing the news the Georgia Scholastic Press Association named The Legend an overall winner in the small school category.
Current yearbook staff members Veronaye Charlton, Dani Prince, Reese Wilson, Flannery Hogan, Mei Hui de Velasco, Izzy Jones, Reese Wilson, Kyndal Anderson and Emilee Jones worked on the winning issue. Additionally, Class of 2021 members Chaz Mullis and Collin Kelly served as editors.
According to Yearbook Advisor Elisha Boggs, the award is a tremendous accomplishment.
“Students stayed determined to find creative ways to tell the story of a tumultuous year,” Boggs said. “Our theme “This Side Up” gave staff members direction and courage to collect the stories from as many students as possible, even those studying from locations abroad due to travel restrictions.”
A statement from one of the GSPA evaluators is certainly affirming the hard work and commitment on the part of the 2020-21 staff, Boggs said.
The quote is included below:
“Storytelling is the key to media and memories. This book does that in a very dynamic and elegant way. It features students and their stories both on and off campus. The book takes a risk in departing from some yearbook norms and letting photos and solid writing introduce the year that it was. As a whole, the risk was rewarded by a memory that should be a precious keepsake for this community.”
