Everyone scores as TFS MS beats Woody Gap

 
 

The TFS MS boys basketball team opened the 2022 portion of their schedule with a blowout win Saturday at home against Woody Gap. The boys won 43-9, and were propelled by a second quarter that saw TFS outscore the visitors 14-0.

Every player on the team scored points, including a team total of 5 3-pointers. After a quick start to open the game at 11-3 in favor of the Indians, Macade Huff had a key triple and Jackson Savage a pair of layups on the fast break. 

Ethan Wheeler played exceptionally well, and had a tray of his own in the second along with a layup to push the lead up to 18-3. Derrick Lane's outside shot made it 25-3, which was the halftime score.

In the third, William NeSmith, who was called up from the B-Team and playing in his first A-Team game, had a 3-pointer and another bucket as TFS drove the score up to 30-3. Merrick Carnes has a big 3-pointer in the fourth while the Indians went on to win 43-9.

Wheeler led in scoring with 7 points, adding a rebound, 3 steals, and 3 assists. NeSmith had 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. Huff had 5 points, while Savage and Tate Turpin ended with 4 points each. Lane and Carnes had 3 points, and Asa Popham, Griffin Harkness, Kaden Hunter, Rylee Smith, Elijah Barker, and Bryson Perdue all scored 2 points each. 

The Indians are now 5-3 overall, and 5-1 overall. The boys will play Monday at home against Highlands.
