TFS has named Indians of the Week for the week of January 31-February 5. This week's selections are Maggie Peacock and Sean Lynes, Jr. for high school, and Emily Shoemaker and Macade Huff for middle school. MORE INDIANS OF THE WEEK
Maggie Peacock - Tennis
HS Girl
Maggie Peacock is a varsity tennis team captain that has started off to an impressive start. She has worked diligently in improving her tennis skills in preparation to attempt a repeat to the state tournament. As number one on the depth chart, Maggie has been an encouragement to the younger ladies as they make a transition from middle school to upper school. She has also worked diligently with the gentlemen captains to help plan more activities to make this year a memorable experience for the seniors as well as the rest of the team. She has led by example in her work ethic and enthusiasm. Congratulations Maggie on the well-deserving achievement of Indian of the Week. -coach Randy Morris
Sean Lynes, Jr - Soccer
HS Boy
Sean Lynes Jr has had a tremendous start to his senior season. He has been battling a nagging knee injury and some discomfort but has not let that deter him. He has been working hard in practice, showing younger players the intensity that is expected at the varsity level. In the first game of the season, Sean had 3 goals, two in the first half and one in the second half. Not only that but he had three shots. Rarely, in soccer, does a player have 100% SOT accuracy, let alone convert all into goals. That stat shows the calmness and intelligence that Sean played with against North Hall. He made sure to take control of every opportunity given to him and ensure he wasn’t going to waste it. -coach Jeremy Stille
Emily Shoemaker - Basketball
MS Girl
IOW for the MS Lady Indians basketball team is Emily Shoemaker. Emily had a big basket in the 4th quarter of the Nantahala game that helped us make it to overtime, and played amazing defense to help us grab the win. She is strong and brings a burst of energy off the bench. She works hard and always makes us laugh! I look forward to working with her next year! -coach Jennifer Cox
Macade Huff - Basketball
MS Boy
The Indian of the Week for Middle School Boys Basketball is 6th-grader Macade Huff. In three games last week, Macade finished the season strong averaging 16 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.3 steals. In a victory over Rabun Gap Nacoochee School on Thursday, the Indians were down by three at the half, and Macade had taken some ill-advised, long, contested three-pointers. The coaching staff challenged him to be more aggressive offensively instead of settling for long jumpers. In the second half, Macade scored 14 straight points for the Indians to vault the team to a big lead. From the very first day of tryouts, Macade worked very hard and gave his best effort every single time he stepped on the court. His passion was contagious as he led his teammates by example. We look forward to Macade's bright future as a TFS Indian! -coach Anthony Cox
