Hanna, Charlton, Hamilton earn All-State recognition by GACA
With basketball season finished, awards and accolades begin to roll in. For the Tallulah Falls Indians, it means one player earning All-State North honors by the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA). The Lady Indians saw two earn honors.
For the Indians, Anfernee Hanna was named All-State North for 1A Private by GACA. The junior averaged 17.5 points per game, which was the second-highest mark in school history. Hanna was also a 1st Team All-Region honoree.
The Lady Indians were included twice in the GACA All-State North teams, with coach Lowell Hamilton being named All-State North for 1A Private out of Region 8. In his first season as head coach, Hamilton guided the Lady Indians to their first-ever Elite 8 appearance, and ended with a #7 state ranking. The girls also won their first-ever region championship outright and finished 15-5 overall.
Junior star guard Veronaye Charlton picked up All-State North honors, as she was also a 1st Team All-Region member. Charlton scored a career-high 319 points this season, and currently is just under 900 points in her career going into her senior season. She had 112 rebounds, 44 assists, and 56 steals on the year.
