Indians of the Week for week ending April 23
TFS has named the Indian of the Week for the week of April 18-23. This week's selections are Evette Corwin and Canon Brooks for high school, and Carsyn Griffis and Charlie Harris for middle school. MORE INDIANS OF THE WEEK
Evette Corwin - Tennis
HS Girl
In the region tournament, Evette Corwin emerged victorious against her opponent to lead the Lady Indians to back-to-back state qualifications. In the first round of state, Evette played wonderfully in beating her opponent in a very well-fought battle. Evette has been a solid player and leader in her senior year. Canon Brooks - Golf
HS Boy
Canon Brooks continues to lead the Boys Varsity Golf squad this year as our top golfer. Canon earned second place in our match against Rabun County at the Orchard on Thursday. He shot a 41 posting his season-best. In addition to his personal best, Canon holds the lowest scoring average for the boys' golf team. -coach Matt Crotta
Carsyn Griffis - Track & Field
MS Girl
Carsyn Griffis won the girls discus in a significant personal record (58-9) and placed third in the shot put, 800m and 1600m to help lead the team to the Tri State Track & Field Championship. A three-sport athlete, Carsyn is a daily team leader who sees the bigger picture, pursues excellence, and lives GREAT each day of her life. She is a role model for younger team members and a positive, commanding presence of stability. -coach Scott Neal
Charlie Harris - Track & Field
MS Boy
Charlie Harris saved his best meet for last. At the Tri State T&F Championship, he won the discus with a whopping 20 foot personal record (102-6), placed second in the shot put with a 3' 8" PR (32' 9 1/2), was on the winning 4x200m relay, and placed 5th in the 400m. A three-sport athlete, Charlie is the energy of the team, always a true encourager of others. -coach Scott Neal
