Lady Indians varsity and JV beat Highlands, earn fifth straight wins

Highlands (NC) rolled into Tallulah Falls on Monday evening, with both Lady Indians varsity and JV taking wins to run their win streaks to five.

VARSITY

The #6-ranked Lady Indians took a clear 3-0 win over visiting Highlands on Monday, stretching the current win streak to five in a row. After going 4-4 this past weekend in the Rocky Top tournament in Tennessee, TFS went right back to work with the Monday win.

After a 25-15 opening set, the Lady Indians repeated that dominance across the second set (25-16) and third (25-16).

"The standout for tonight was our amazing defense," says coach Matt Heyl. "We face the best hitter we will face all year, and the girls didn't shy away from her, and dug some amazing spikes tonight. Elsa Sanchez was the standout defender, digging everything around her. When that girl would spike at full speed, Elsa was there to dig it for her team and get a good ball to the setter so we could run offense. Sarah Jennings had a good night serving and passing, Addy McCoy had a good night at the net as well, being aggressive with anything near the net and blocking and spiking. And Kitty Rodenas set quite well tonight also."

Tallulah Falls claimed the best-of-five match, advancing its record to 17-7 overall. The Lady Indians play next on Thursday at Stephens County against Stephens and Rabun Gap.

JV

The JV Lady Indians punched out another victory, moving to 12-4 overall and running their win streak to now five straight victories. The girls won the first set over Highlands with a 25-17 first set, and put the match away with a 25-15 second set to clinch the win.
