Rodenas sets single-season aces record as #5 Lady Indians tie school record win streak

Kitty Rodenas' fifth ace of the night came in the second match Tuesday. When her serve was not returned by Rabun County, it went into the school record books as the most in a single season in TFS history. The #5-ranked Lady Indians subsequently secured region wins over Commerce and Rabun to stretch their win streak to six, making the seventh time in school history reaching that mark.

The Lady Indians beat Commerce in straight sets, 25-10 and 25-7 to win their fifth match in a row. Taking on the host Rabun County Lady Wildcats next, TFS won 25-17, 25-12 to claim the sixth straight win.

Rodenas entered play on Tuesday with 93 aces on the year, just four behind the school record of 97 set in 2018 by Kate Blackburn. Rodenas got three in the match against Commerce, and tied and broke the record in the Rabun County match.

The Lady Indians also advanced their record to 24-10, marking the most wins for the team since 31 in 2018. If TFS can win its next match, it will be the first time in school history getting past six straight wins. The girls will get that chance on Thursday when playing in a tri-match at Morgan County against the host school and Academy of Richmond County.

Meanwhile, the JV Lady Indians secured two more wins, moving their win streak to an astonishing 13 in a row. The JV girls beat Commerce 25-9, 25-8, and followed it up with a 25-18, 25-21 win over Rabun County. The JV team is now 20-4 overall and 7-1 in region contests.
