Tallulah Falls School Science Olympiad Team Competes at UGA Regional Tournament

Our Science Olympiad team traveled to the University of Georgia to compete in the Regional Science Olympiad Tournament, joining 23 teams from across the region in a full day of rigorous academic competition.

Students participated in a wide range of challenging events that tested their knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Events included identifying insect specimens in Entomology, designing and conducting experiments from scratch in Experimental Design, constructing and testing a homemade Helicopter for flight performance, and learning how to make and use a hydrometer for the Water Quality competition.

 

Results from the regional tournament are as follows:

  • Anatomy – 13th place: Emily Cai and Isabella McClain

  • Astronomy – 10th place: Henry Dumas and Landon Lewis

  • Boomilever – 7th place: Henry Dumas

  • Circuit Lab – 15th place: Henry Dumas

  • Designer Genes – 12th place: Carsyn Griffis and Caden Polley

  • Dynamic Planet – 3rd place: Megan Prince

  • Entomology – 16th place: Josslyn Webber and Isabella McClain

  • Experimental Design – 10th place: Emily Cai, Isabella McClain, and Josslyn Webber

  • Helicopter – 3rd place: Henry Dumas and Landon Lewis

  • Remote Sensing – 12th place: Caden Polley and Carsyn Griffis

  • Rocks and Minerals – 6th place: Megan Prince

  • Water Quality – 8th place: Caden Polley and Carsyn Griffis

The team’s impressive performance is a testament to months of preparation, collaboration, and unwavering commitment to STEM excellence. While many competitors benefit from dedicated class time, our students do not have a class. They meet before and after school, on weekends, and whenever they can find a moment in between. Their dedication, passion, and perseverance truly set them apart.
