TALLULAH FALLS, Ga. — Two students from Tallulah Falls School were recognized for their artistic achievements during the Capitol Art Exhibit held March 11, 2026, at the Twin Towers at the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta.

Sponsored by the Georgia Art Education Association, the annual event kicks off Youth Art Month and features one of the largest student art exhibitions in the state. More than 136 public and private schools across Georgia participated this year.

Artwork by eighth-grader Sophia Franklin of Mount Airy and seventh-grader Scarlett Stapleton of Alto was selected for display among the outstanding pieces showcased from across the state.

Both students attended the exhibit reception with their families and met local state senator Victor Anderson, who congratulated them and expressed his support for their artistic accomplishments.

The event also included remarks from State School Superintendent Richard Woods, who spoke about the importance of arts education and the value of recognizing student creativity. Each student received a certificate honoring their artwork.

TFS middle school art teacher Paige Barlow said the recognition reflects the students’ dedication and vision. “Artists have unique styles, but the goal is the same — a finished work they are proud of,” Barlow said. “Sophia and Scarlett come into the art room each day ready to work, and their persistence shows in their art.” She added that having their work selected for the Capitol Art Exhibit is a meaningful honor that highlights both their talent and commitment.
