Welcome To Your House: TFS House Induction Ceremony 2026-2027
Cheers rise and fall from every direction of the gym as students welcome each new house member at Tallulah Falls School’s 2026-2027 House Induction Ceremony.
Every new student in Grades 4-8 reaches into a Harry Potter-like hat and draws a piece of paper with the image of a raven, owl, hornet, or wolf. As each student unfolds the paper, Director of Performing Arts Jonathan Roberts announces the house. Immediately, an eruption of cheers comes from one corner of the room as students race to join their house family, greeted with fist bumps, high fives, and a spirit tunnel.
It is a tradition that turns a picture on a piece of paper into a sense of belonging.
The TFS house system brings students and faculty together across grade levels, creating opportunities to build relationships, make memories, and develop a sense of community through play, teamwork, friendly competition, and service. Once inducted, students remain part of their house throughout their TFS journey, building connections that span the years from their first day on campus through graduation.
Houses earn points through challenges such as the annual canned food drive, Field Day, scavenger hunts, charity fundraisers, and other positive choices students make individually and collectively.
“Students become engaged. They take ownership. They grab onto it and compete, and through this, they develop character,” said Roberts, one of the original founders of the house system and head of the Fine Arts Department.
For the newest members of the TFS community, it is more than an induction. It is the beginning of finding their people, their place, and their house.
