Life Skills

Life Skills is a one-semester course required for all seniors. During a time of major transitions, the purpose of Life Skills is to help students understand self-sufficiency.  Topics like budgeting, personal finance, credit, decision-making, and career preparation are all covered through activities and research.  Students practice balancing checkbooks, completing job applications, and recognizing good decision-making tactics for their future decisions.  Additionally, students play a simulation game reinforcing the impact of choice on personal lifestyles; they also conduct research on career interests, the demands of a career, and U.S. and global etiquette.  Over the course of the semester, the course focuses on providing students with an awareness of life skills and the ability to apply these skills post-graduation.
