TFS coaches name Indians of the Week

Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected their Indian athletes of the week for Sept. 3-8.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL

Seventh-grader Annabelle Jackson of Alto was chosen as an Indian of the Week by tennis coach Lisa Wilcox. “Annabelle plays at No. 1 singles for us and won both of her matches last week,” said Wilcox. “She won by identical scores, 8-1, against both Rabun County Middle School and Banks County. She is practicing well and improving each day. She has been instrumental in the team’s perfect record so far this season.”

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY

Eighth-grader Benjamin Okoronkwo of Euless, Texas was named an Indian of the Week by tennis coach Lisa Wilcox. “Benjamin is playing at the No. 2 singles spot and won both of his matches last week,” said Wilcox. “He won 8-2 against Rabun County Middle School and 8-4 in his match against Banks County Middle School. Benjamin puts a lot of work into his practice time and is rapidly improving. His play has been a big part of our success.”

VARSITY GIRL

Junior Lillie Free of Clarkesville was named an Indian of the Week by volleyball coach Matt Heyl. “One word that pops into my head when I think of Lillie is ‘sacrifice,’” said Heyl. “Lillie has sacrificed her time and position in the absence of our setter, with no complaining. Not only that, she has stayed after practice working on setting and also gave up her Labor Day holiday to come in and work with the coaches just to improve and help the team.”

VARSITY BOY

Junior Matthew Justice of Tiger was named an Indian of the Week by cross country coach Scott Neal. “Matthew placed sixth of 51 junior varsity runners at the Eagle Invite,” said Neal. “He ran a personal 5K record of 21:39.35, which was more than three minutes faster than last season on a similar course. Matthew’s ferocious focus inspired his team to win the JV division.”
