MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL 

Seventh-grader Ellie Southards of Dillard was named an Indian of the Week by middle school girls basketball coach Sharea Long. “Ellie dropped 16 points and pulled 10 boards in the big win over Lanier Christian,” Long said. “She leads by example, has a positive attitude with her teammates and staff and displays a copious amount of hustle and desire. Ellie is very dedicated to her team and strives to be the best. She is a great asset to our program.” 

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY

Eighth-grader Matt Cochran of Demorest was selected as an Indian of the Week by swim coach Annette Cochran. “Matt looked and performed GREAT at our last meet,” Cochran said. “He set two new records in the 50-yard butterfly, with a time of 36.70 seconds. This earned a No. 9 spot on the TFS middle school legacy list. Matt’s personal record in the 50-yard breaststroke (35.67 seconds) landed him at No. 4 on the legacy list. Matt helped the team score 36 points with one first-place finish and a third-place finish overall, landing the team in first place overall.”

VARSITY GIRL

Junior Sophie Alexander of Sautee Nacoochee was named an Indian of the Week by varsity girls basketball coach Brandy Corbett. “Sophie epitomizes what all coaches desire in a ‘team player,’” Corbett said. “No matter how much time she is given on the court, Sophie’s contributions during practices and games are always 100%. Every program needs a player like Sophie and we are blessed to have her as a part of the team.” 

VARSITY BOY

Freshman Gabe Keene of Demorest was named an Indian of the Week by varsity boys basketball coach Jim Van Hooser. “Gabe has become an integral part of the TFS defense,” Van Hooser said. “Last week in three games, he had 15 rebounds and seven blocked shots while scoring his first three-point basket of the season. As a freshman playing against much older players he has more than held his own.”
