TFS coaches name Indians of the Week for Feb. 5-10

Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected their Indian athletes of the week for Feb. 5-10.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL

Eighth-grader Hannah Lundy of Clarkesville was named an Indian of the Week by middle school golf coach Matt Heyl. “Hannah used her practice time very wisely this week,” Heyl said. “While others may have been slowing down on their drills she continued working. She did what she was asked to do and did it to the best of her ability. Hannah has also shown good leadership by asking important specific questions pertaining to the drill or practice time so everyone knows what to do.”

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY

Sixth-grader Clay Kafsky of Clarkesville was named an Indian of the Week by middle school track & field coach Scott Neal. “Clay is a dynamic athlete new to track & field,” Neal said. “He is a versatile, resilient, positive learner who quickly applies principles to skills and training. “Contagious enthusiasm strengthens his event range. He can compete in sprints or distance at this time plus he picked up the simple nuances of high jumping in one day. We are proud of his character and team-ness.”

VARSITY GIRL

Senior Norah Griswold of Clarkesville was selected as an Indian of the Week by swim coach Annette Cochran. “Norah was a valuable member of the girls relay team that swam at the state championships,” Cochran said. “Norah has worked hard all year and left ‘everything in the pool.’ She dropped time in her leadoff leg of the freestyle relay and met her goal of breaking the one minute mark in her leg of the 400-yard freestyle, coming in at 59.67. Norah is dedicated and dependable. She is willing to swim any event and gives her best to achieve a great time and score points for the team.”

VARSITY BOY

Junior Hunter Weyrich of Alto was named and Indian of the Week by swim coach Annette Cochran. “This was Hunter’s third year competing at the state swim championships,” Cochran said. “Hunter qualified in five individual events but is only able to swim in two. He chose the 200-yard individual medley (IM) and the 100-yard breaststroke. Hunter set a new school record in the 200 IM with a time of 2:02:48 and also set a personal record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.82. He was also a major component in the success of the boys’ relay teams, with a sixth-place finish in both the 200-yard medley and the 400-yard freestyle relay. Overall, the boys’ team finished the meet in ninth place in the 1A-3A division.”
