MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL

Seventh-grader Ellie Southards of Dillard was selected as an Indian of the Month by middle school girls coach Sharae Long. “Ellie scored 21 points in the semi-final Tri-State Conference game against Rabun Gap and was five-for-six from the free-throw line,” Long said. “In the championship game, she led the team with nine points against a tough Summit Charter team. Finishing our season she scored a total of 226 points, averaging 14 points-per-game and 10 rebounds per game. Ellie gives 110% every day, whether in practice or in a game. She has a passion for the game and a tremendous desire to improve.” 

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY

Sixth-grader Clay Kafsky of Clarkesville was named an Indian of the Month for January by middle school boys basketball coach Tom Tilley. “Clay is a vocal leader with an impeccable work ethic,” Tilley said. “He is the team’s best defender and scorer. For the month he scored eight, 11 and 13 points in three games. Due to his performance, Clay was moved up to the ‘A’ squad for the Tri-State Conference tournament where he exceeded expectations. He nailed a crucial three-pointer and added a steal in some of the games biggest moments.” 

VARSITY GIRL

Senior Mali Danavall was named an Indian of the Month by varsity girls basketball coach Brandy Corbett. “Mali has performed at a much higher level during the last two weeks and is actualizing both her leadership potential as well as her play,” Corbett said. “We are very proud of the changes we are observing and appreciate her finishing up her career as a Lady Indian in a way that makes us all proud.” 

VARSITY BOY

Freshman Andrew Erwin of Demorest was selected as an Indian of the Month by Precision Rifle coach Tim Stamey. “Andrew is a consummate perfectionist that listens intently and works extremely hard to master the sport,” Stamey said. “While shooting at the Junior Olympic standing position National Qualifier he missed earning his varsity letter by only one point in his very first match, stunning the other coaches in attendance. In the next match, Andrew shot a 273 which was 10 points higher than the next closest freshmen and only eight points below the highest score. This contributed to a TFS record 3x10 3P match score (1115).  Andrew is talented, hard-working, easy to coach, a GREAT team player and is also a Presidential Scholar. He will be a star on the rifle team for years to come.”
