TFS JV baseball victorious over RGNS

The Tallulah Falls School JV baseball team once again faced the Eagles of Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School on April 1 at the Higgins Baseball Complex.

“Unlike last week’s blowout win, this one proved to be frustratingly nerve-racking,” said assistant coach Dustin Rogers.

RGNS took advantage of bad defensive play by the Indians to take an early 3-0 lead, Rogers said.

“The Indians answered with a bang by scoring 11, unanswered runs to take the lead,11-3. The Indians learned a valuable lesson to not rest on their laurels,” he said. “The Eagles took advantage of weak pitching and untimely errors to scratch back and take a 12-11 lead going into our final at-bat. The Indians’ sense of urgency finally kicked in. We scored two runs in the final inning to win 13-12.”

The Indians were led offensively by sophomore Trent Thomas of the Bahamas with two hits and three runs scored.

“Freshman Drew Bates of Clarkesville, all 130 lbs of him, hit his first home-run of his career. The ball literally hit the top of the fence, and bounced to the other side,” Rogers added.
