TFS varsity swimmers qualify for state at Hawaiian Luau Invitational

 
 

 

Tallulah Falls School’s varsity and middle school swim teams hosted their first home meet on Saturday, Nov. 9. 

Kicking off the home schedule with the Hawaiian Luau Invitational at the Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center in Clarkesville, the TFS swim teams continued their state-qualifying trend started on Nov. 2.  

The varsity boys’ team, consisting of four seniors, John Nichols of Clarkesville, Chris Geiger of Sautee Nacoochee, Gabe Iluma of Nigeria and Caden Griffis of Tallulah Falls, made the state cut in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:39.40. Nichols also earned qualified for state in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.64. 

Boys’ and girls’ varsity teams each placed second out of five teams while our boys’ and girls’ middle school teams each placed fourth out of five teams.

“The TFS swim team would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our students, staff and parent volunteers for helping this meet run smoothly,” head coach Rachel Nichols said. 

The varsity Indians will compete again this Saturday, Nov. 16, as they travel to Cherokee County for the Chief and Eagle Invitational starting at 3 pm.
