Season Preview: Boys Basketball

The Indians enter year two with Cody Coleman at the helm, and are fresh off a state playoff run that is fueling the fire. The seniors that return are ready to lead the program, and many of the returning players have learned from last season's experience.

"For this season, we expect our five seniors to lead us on and off the court," says Coleman. "They have accepted this challenge and are great ambassadors for TFS. Also, we have several returners from last season who saw significant varsity minutes that will continue to be a big part of the program."

The Indians have a full schedule, complete with 13 home games throughout the season. Coleman and the boys are determined to take the next step.

"Our goal for this season is to continue to build and improve on our foundation from last season," states Coleman. "We were very proud of our accomplishment of making the state tournament last year. We are hoping to use that valuable experience we gained to help us work toward new successes."

The team saw key playmakers Matthew Weidner (all-time leading scorer, second all-time in rebounds) and Hayden Johnson graduate, but bring back enough talent and athleticism to have success. The lack of size is offset by the strength of the team - athleticism and speed.

"You can expect a very fast pace for our team this season," says Coleman. "We are looking to work in transition and push the ball up the floor. Defensively, we like to mix it up both in the full and half court."

The Indians will tip off the 2020-21 season on November 20 at home against Pinecrest.
