Season Preview: JV Boys Basketball
The JV boys basketball team opens the 2020-21 season with a roster that has had a bit of turnover. Many of the key players from last season have moved up to the varsity level, though the team embraces the challenges ahead.
"We are very excited about this season even though we lost five of our key players who have matriculated on to the varsity level and having only two players move up from the eighth grade team from last year," says coach Lowell Hamilton. "This season will offer our team some great opportunities to meet and defeat many challenges. I believe the biggest challenge is for everyone to adjust to their new roles and then mastering them. When that happens as a team, we will see a JV basketball team that will be a lot of fun to watch."
The boys do have a couple of veteran leaders on the roster, including juniors George Ketch, Tyler Popham and newcomer Gavin Page. There are a number of players who are expected to contribute heavily to the team's successes.
"It's going to be big for Lincoln Hall to be that positive floor leader for us this season as a point guard," adds Hamilton. "However, others who will need to play well for us to have a successful season are players Colton Hicks, Bryan Cope, George Ketch, Diego Crotta, Sam Ketch, Will Seaman, and no doubt a newly-transferred junior who is ineligible to play varsity this year because of the transfer, Gavin Page. He is a phenomenal competitor and basketball player."
The team will condition the roster to become a little more high-tempo as the season moves along.
"I think for the most part, at the beginning of this season, we will operate as a half-court set offensive team with moments of transitional runs," states Hamilton. "However, as the season progress, we are hoping to be an all-out transitional team. We plan to play lots of man-to-man defense for us to continue to develop as a trusted family, depending on each other for success."
The JV team opens play December 1 at Bethlehem Chrsitian.
