TFS coaches name Indians of the Week

Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected Indian Athletes of the Week for January 20-25.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL

Seventh-grader Mia Hamon of Mt. Airy was selected as an Indian of the Week by swim coach Rachel Nichols. “Mia had a fantastic end of season meet on Saturday,” Nichols said. “Swimming a personal best on the season in the 100-yard individual medley, Mia has been a positive force on the team this season. She is always willing to help her coaches and teammates to help the team succeed.”

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY

Seventh-grader Jackson Carlan of Baldwin was named an Indian of the Week by middle school boys basketball coach Tom Tilley. “Jackson is a hard-working athlete who was instrumental in our Tri-State win versus rival Highlands Middle School,” Tilley said. “He scored seven 4th quarter points, shooting 75 percent from the field with three deflections and three rebounds. Jackson’s 4th quarter performance was the sole reason we were able to come back and win the game in the final minutes.”

VARSITY GIRL

Junior Iray Adeleke of Dunwoody was selected as an Indian of the Week by varsity girls basketball coach Brandy Corbett. “Iray has worked hard this season and it is certainly starting to show,” Corbett said. “This past weekend, Iray debuted in the starting lineup for the first time. She handled herself with poise and confidence in both contests and demonstrated that she was not afraid to play in big games. We are proud of the commitment she has shown to our program over the year.”

VARSITY BOY

Freshman Anfernee Hannah of the Bahamas was named an Indian of the Week by JV basketball coach Lowell Hamilton. “Anfernee had one of his best performances this season this past week,” Hamilton said. “Against Prince Avenue Christian School Anfernee had 20 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks in the win. In the game against an excellent Providence team, he scored eight points while grabbing 11 rebounds to secure the win. In Saturday’s game against Hebron, Anfernee scored 16 points and added 15 rebounds in the team’s win. Anfernee is one of the best freshmen in the region as a JV player and his future as a varsity player is very bright.”
