TFS coaches name Indians of the Week for Feb. 24-29

Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected Indian Athletes of the Week for Feb. 24-29.

Middle school girl

Sixth-grader Josie Plaisted of Toccoa was named an Indian of the Week by middle school soccer coach Laura Higbie.

“Josie has shown competitiveness and fearlessness on the field. She had several shots on goal in our Rabun Gap game,” Higbie said. “She was a crowd favorite for her personality and willingness to go up against the bigger players. We look forward to watching her help the TFS soccer teams score goals and win games for years to come.”

Middle school boy

Eighth-grader Sam Ketch of Clarkesville was named an Indian of the Week by middle school track & field coach Scott Neal.

“Sam came out of the Tri-State Conference basketball runner-up team and hit the ground running (or in his case, throwing) in track & field,” Neal said. “Sam threw the 4k shot more than 40 feet in the annual indoor meet at Riverside Military Academy. He also runs sprints and any relay needed to help the team. Positive, focused, and goal-oriented, Sam seeks to be GREAT!”

Varsity girl

Senior Abby Peacock of Clarkesville was named an Indian of the Week by soccer coach Travis Mullis.

“As the senior captain, Abby Peacock has not only trained to better herself and her team, she has also attended planning meetings with the coaching staff to determine the various goals the team hopes to achieve,” Mullis said. “Abby exhibits the following characteristics that make her an excellent team member and leader: strong communicator, thoughtful, helpful, tough, service-oriented and dedicated. I’m very thankful for Abby’s influence on the Lady Indians soccer team this year and look forward to working with her to create the best season yet.”

Varsity boy

Senior Zhiyang Shu of China was named an Indian of the Week by varsity tennis coach Randy Morris.

“Zhiyang has been a constant for our varsity Indian tennis team for four years now. He has taken on the responsibility of Captain for the past two,” Morris said. “He has been a GREAT leader on and off the court. His tennis abilities have inspired his teammates to work harder. His character on and off the court has inspired his teammates as well as his coaches. He has a servant’s heart where he puts others above himself. Congratulations, Zhiyang, for these IOW honors.”
