Chesser, Kafsky pace TFS in Rabun Gap meet
The TFS middle school cross country team traveled on Tuesday to Rabun Gap. Josie Chesser finished runner-up to lead the girls, while Clay Kafsky won the boys race.
Chesser paced the second-place TFS team, finishing as the runner-up with a 14:33 in the 1.9-mile course. Avery Keim ran a 15:16 for fourth place, while Laurel Blake Kafsky rounded out the scoring, placing sixth with a time of 16:09. Lezita Miller was only a second behind and Megan Prince finished out as the team’s fifth runner for the day.
Clay Kafsky won the boys race with his time of 13.10, running strategically wise to pour it on in the last half of the race. Jason Bard finished fourth of the 28 competitors in 13:53. Sixth grader Josh Lander, on his birthday, finished 12th as the final TFS scorer and set a personal record. Ti Wright sprinted to a strong finish behind Josh, about the same time ahead of the team’s fifth runner, Dalton Blackwell.
Next up for the TFS Middle School team is the Runner's Fit Mountain Invite at Unicoi State Park on Tuesday, September 29.
