TFS drops seesaw battle with state-ranked Athens Christian

The Indians found themselves on the losing end of a seesaw battle on senior night against Athens Christian. The game saw TFS go up 2-0 in the first and stretch the lead to 6-2 before watching #8-ranked Athens Christian score five in the fifth and five more in the sixth to close out the 12-9 win.

TFS pounded out 12 hits, including three each for Trent Thomas and Frankey Moree. Moree had four RBI and a double to pave the way offensively.

The Indians jumped out to a 2-0 lead on an RBI single by Moree followed by a Malique Charlton hard grounder that was booted by the Eagles. Thomas added an RBI single in the second to make it 3-0. Athens Christian got a run in the third and another in the fourth to bridge the gap to 3-2.

Joel Miller recorded a sac fly, followed by an RBI double by Moree and a Charlton run-scoring single to go up 6-2. A five-run fifth gave Athens Christian a brief 7-6 lead. Miller tied the game with a bases-loaded walk, and Moree had the go-ahead RBI single to plate two runs and make it 9-7 in favor of TFS. The Eagles' five runs in the sixth put the game away.

Seven different TFS hitters recorded hits, led by Thomas and Moree. Miller had two RBI, and Chathan Clouatre had two hits and two runs scored. Thomas went 4 2/3 innings on the mound and gave way to Clouatre, who went the final 2 1/3 while taking the loss.

The Indians are now 13-11 overall and 7-7 in region play. TFS honored its five seniors before the game, and return to action for the third game of the series against Athens Christian on the road.
