Hall's last-second shot completes Indians comeback in thrilling win over George Walton
The #9-ranked Indians didn't look themselves most of the night against visiting George Walton, falling down by as many as 12 points just before the final quarter. Lincoln Hall's last-second shot just before the final buzzer broke a tied game on the last possession, as the Indians squeezed out a 50-48 win. Gavin Page also came up huge with a go-ahead 3-pointer with just over a minute left before George Walton tied it up with 18 seconds to go.
Page opened the game with a splash from beyond the arc, but the visitors went up 9-5. Charlie Cody's triple got it within one, but TFS couldn't claim a lead and trailed 16-11 after one.
In the second, Anfernee Hanna and Devonte Allen got buckets to go and get the Indians within a point, but once again George Walton would push it up to a 9-point lead. They led 26-17 going into the locker room.
That deficit reached 12 in the third quarter before Hall hit a 3-pointer to start bridging the gap. Hanna had a breakaway dunk that ignited the crowd, and hit a driving layup moments later. However, George Walton got a basket at the buzzer to take an 8-point lead at 38-30 heading into the final period.
TFS went on a run, as Allen had a key deuce, Page hit a big tray, and Allen followed with a thunderous dunk of his own. Trailing suddenly by just 2, the Indians tied it up with a Cody reverse layup. Allen put the boys ahead for the first time since the opening minute with a basket at the 2:53 mark.
The game was tied at 43 when Page connected from deep with 1:20 on the clock. Hall had a layup to push it to 48-43 with 52 seconds left. However, George Walton nailed a 3-pointer, then stole the ball away from TFS and connected on 2 free throws with 18 seconds to go. The Indians held for the last shot, and found Hall underneath for an easy layup. George Walton could barely get the ball in after the shot when the final horn sounded.
The matchup was the first against George Walton since the region championship game last season, which TFS won by nearly 20 points to claim their first region title in school history. A trio of Indians scored in double figures, led by Allen's 12 points. 10 of those came in the second half. Both Cody and Hanna finished with 11 points, while Page had 9 and Hall 7. The win moves the Indians to 13-2 overall and 3-1 in region play.
