Murdock qualifies for finals in hurdles events to highlight second day of GHSA State Championships

In the second day of the GHSA State Championships in Powder Springs, Tallulah Falls School had multiple events on the schedule.

Macy Murdock took the top spot in the 300 meter hurdles prelims, and placed fourth in the prelims of the 100 meter hurdles, qualifying for the finals on Saturday in both events. Julianne Shirley placed 13th overall in the prelims of the 400, though she did not qualify for the finals in the event.

The girls 4x400 relay came in eighth place in the prelims, taking the last qualifying spot for the finals in that event. The boys came in 16th in the 4x100 relay prelims, not qualifying for the final run.

The opening day of action, Thursday, saw Sam Ketch come in seventh in the shot put and Shirley place 11th in high jump. The girls 4x200 was seventh in the prelims to qualify for the Saturday finals, and the girls 4x800 came in 14th in the final run, while the boys came in 16th overall in the same event.

Saturday's action will include Murdock going for a state title in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, and the girls 4x400 relay and 4x200 relay teams.
